Weight Distribution Hitch and Sway Control

When weight distribution and sway control make sense for SUVs, trucks, campers, and enclosed trailers.

A weight distribution hitch helps spread tongue weight across the tow vehicle and trailer. Sway control helps reduce side-to-side trailer movement, especially with taller trailers and highway towing.

Most useful for:

• Travel trailers and campers.
• Long enclosed trailers.
• Full-size SUVs and half-ton trucks towing near payload or tongue-weight limits.
• Highway towing where crosswinds or passing trucks affect trailer stability.

Less useful for:

• Very light utility trailers.
• Small trailers with low tongue weight.
• Gooseneck or fifth-wheel trailers, which use different hitch systems.
